Baccano! 1934 - Alice in Jails - Prison Episode: Prologue IV

The last prologue, setting up the last major (?) player in the prison part of this arc.

As you may be aware, this is not the first fan translation of this particular volume, and there are translations of the volumes after this also making the rounds. As such, people may inadvertently reveal spoilers from later scenes and arcs in the comments to this and following chapters. I'm not exactly saying "don't comment," but I thought it would only be fair to give you all fair warning. If you're not keen on getting spoiled, be careful when reading the comments.

Anyway, enjoy.

Baccano! 1934 - Alice in Jails - Prison Episode: Prologue III

Shortest prologue of the bunch. The shadowy figure's ability to remain a shadowy figure even while walking through what are most probably brightly lit hallways is far more impressive than immortality, in my opinion. Enjoy.

Edit: There are a metric shitton of spoilers in the comments of this post for various bits of this and later arcs; read at your own peril.

Baccano! 1934 - Alice in Jails - Prison Episode: Prologue II

If you saw the "sneak peek" I posted nearly two years ago, this is pretty much that with some minor touch-ups for flow and context. Yeesh. I can't believe it's been that long since then.

I'll be taking a few days off from this for the Genshiken chapter and then I'll be back with the third prologue. Enjoy.

Baccano! 1934 - Alice in Jails - Prison Episode: Prologue I

In case you haven't read the novels covered by the anime, Edward Noah is one of the FBI agents who cleans up after the Flying Pussyfoot incident in the anime along with his coworker Bill Sullivan. In the books, he appears a bit before that as a police detective; there's a bit of bad blood between him and the Martillo Family (and Firo in particular), but he gets moved to the Bureau of Investigation (the organization that would later become the FBI) shortly after the story starts.

If I'm not mistaken, this is Victor's first proper appearance in the series--though he did introduce Nile back in the color pages of The Children of Bottle--and man, what a first impression to make, eh?

The next prologue is coming tomorrow, since technically I have most of it done already and just need to brush it up a little.

Baccano! 1934 - Alice in Jails - Prison Episode: Color Pages and Epilogue I

So, every time I say "hopefully this next chapter will come faster," it doesn't. Exercising some genre savvy, I will make no promises. On the plus side, though, the chapters are much shorter this time around, so there's that.

I'm aware that this particular volume has already been translated by someone else, but for reasons I'm hoping will become readily apparent upon reading, I'm just going to continue going in order right from the end of The Slash.

Enjoy.

Spotted Flower 5

Mediafire Download

Hobo-1, if you're reading this and plan on continuing Spotted Flower, drop me an email and let me know. I'm just doing this because it looks like you've dropped off the face of the Earth. I tried to emulate your font choices so if you pick up from the next chapter, (probably) nobody will notice.

Anyway, if you read and follow Genshiken, you probably know what this is. If you don't, here's a brief summary: Kio Shimoku, the mangaka of Genshiken, is releasing very short installments of a new series, Spotted Flower,in the thrice-a-year magazine Rakuen Le Paradis. The story is about a married couple who totally are not Genshiken's Madarame Harunobu and totally not Kasukabe Saki, dealing with the events leading up to the birth of their first child.

Hints are dropped everywhere that the couple actually are Madarame and Saki, including in the title itself: the character "mada" as in Madarame means "spotted," while the character "saki," when used as a verb and not a name, means "to bloom." So, yeah. Nobody quite knows why Kio is doing this, but hey, I'm not complaining.

If this is your first introduction to the series and you're interested in starting, you can find the previous chapters easily enough online, both to download and to read online.

Otherwise, enjoy.

P.S. Bet you totally didn't notice that the imaginary son has the exact same hairstyle that Madarame has right now in Nidaime.

Baccano! 1933 - THE SLASH - Bloody to Fair: Epilogue & Remnants

The Epilogue is the end of The Slash storyline, but there is actually more to the book itself. Like the name implies, the "Remnants, or New Prologues" more or less lead into the 1934 Alice in Jails/Peter Pan in Chains arc (volumes 8~10). This book also includes the second author's midword I've ever read. Enjoy.
