Bambino! Volume 4, Chapter 36

Heated wine, oh god do want

Mediafire Download

Note: I take no responsibility for Asuka's Latin; I'm fairly sure that hospes means something quite different but hey, I'm not the mangaka. Chalk it up to her being drunk, eh?

Next chapter's probably gonna be a while. Ugh, editing. Enjoy!

Bambino! Volume 4, Chapter 35

I love this panel.

All I can say is, I wish Sekiya had shown Katori's reaction to the news. Enjoy.

Baccano! 2001 - The Children of Bottle: Chapter 2

Sylvie and I have the same opinion regarding Czeslaw.

Now we're getting into, as far as I know, content that has never been translated into English. Hold on and enjoy the ride. And excuse Elmer's on-and-off British; I've never done a proper British accent before but I just couldn't resist.

You'll be saying it too.

The mini-arc that starts here was pretty hilarious to me. You'll understand when you finish it. Enjoy.

Bambino! Volume 4, Chapter 32

Mediafire Download

Starting off volume 4, with Ban getting a bad case of cold feet that silly boy starting to realize that being a waiter isn't just about taking orders and carrying plates. Enjoy.

Bambino! Volume 3, Chapter 31

I told you this was a battle manga.

And that wraps it up for volume 3. Mmm~

I'll understand if you laugh at the last page. I did too.

Enjoy. As always, batch volume download is at the bottom, chapter is at the top.

This and the chapter after it are ones I like a lot, too. Hope you enjoy 'em also.

Baccano! 2001 - The Children of Bottle: Chapter 1

The Alchemists Who Leapt Through Time

So I watched the Baccano! dub for the first time a few days ago and holy shit Elmer has a British accent. This is so hilarious and awesome I can't even begin to describe it. One of the few dub voices I think is really great. I'll be trying to reflect a bit of that in Elmer's lines from now on. I'm shamelessly biased and fickle, so other characters (like Maiza) may not speak with approximations of their dub accents, and others may.

The four main chapters are based on the four kanji of the saying

Enjoy.

Bambino! Volume 3, Chapter 24

That's right, as of this chapter Bambino! turns into a battle manga!

This wraps up the Fukuoka mini-arc. I'm sure some of you are already missing Baccanale. Stay tuned for next chapter, and a shocking tweest!

Enjoy.

Bambino! Volume 3, Chapter 23

So hungry...

This is one of my favorite chapters. Can't say much more or else I'll spoil it. Hope you enjoy.

Got a bit restless, so here's another chapter. Have fun, enjoy.

Looking Back on Jotaro's Bizarre Adventure With Pathetic Memory

Go, Blaziken! Magician's Fire!

うろ覚えで振り返る 承太郎の奇妙な冒険 (requires a Nicodou ID)

...I have to say, unless you've read and enjoyed JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3, this probably won't make much sense. No, scratch that. Any sense.

This is basically one guy drawing the Stardust Crusaders part of JoJo's as he remembers it, complete with stunning (?) voice overs and astounding (??) sound effects. Enjoyment factor of this probably hinges more on knowledge of Stardust Crusaders' story than actual Japanese knowledge, though of course the more you understand, the more injokes and conversation you'll get.

As the title says, the humor comes from the artist's hilariously patchwork memory, sometimes mixing and matching events, often reinterpreting them completely. Also cameos from Dio that I coulda sworn weren't in the original.

How did he fit in there? Now there's some fridge logic for you.

What's pretty impressive is that this guy's kept updating for over a year (started in January 2009; last update was March 7th 2010) with over 30 installments. And... well... I can't really describe it. You just have to see for yourself.

Bambino! Volume 3, Chapter 21

She's too good for Ban. ;_;

Mmmm. Next chapter's gonna be a pain. Grumph. As an aside, I'm reasonably certain that the war Tekkan refers to is the war in Iraq (Bambino began serialization in 2005).

We'll see how things go. I might take a short break. But that's a matter for tomorrow. We'll see.

Enjoy.

Waugh. Only 3 more chapters to go with this volume. Then I can go back to lazy arse editing instead of spending something like ten minutes per page. Mmm. Enjoy.

Haha, oh wow.

Isaac and Miria cameo in this week's episode of DRRR!!

Pretty awesome, even though they didn't show up in the book. Shoulda had Elmer, Denkuro and Nile somewhere in there too.

Even though I still don't quite know what to think about Shinra and Celty... I guess I'll keep watching the anime for neta like this. ( ・д・);

Bambino! Volume 2, Chapter 16

Anyone else notice how Ban suddenly became
really handsome at the end of the last chapter for no reason?

Mmm, just 4 more chapters and I'll be done with these annoying raws. Thankfully the quality (read: easiness of sloppy editing) seems to go up for volumes 3 and 4, so hopefully those should come out a bit faster.

Anyway, enjoy.

Baccano! 2001 - The Children of Bottle: Preface and Prologue

"I give this translation 314 points!"
"Out of how many?"

And here we go with the preface and the prologue. In typical Baccano! style, don't be too surprised if things are really confusing at first - it'll all make sense later.

Bambino! Volume 2, Chapter 15

Dinner at Trattoria Baccanale with not one but two lovely ladies. I'm jealous. ( っ '∼')づ

Waugh, 3 double page spreads.

You wouldn't know it from the art, but Bambino! and its sequel are weekly manga, just like Weekly Shounen Jump's lineup. Pretty impressive, eh?

Enjoy.

Chef Shishido's memory is flawless, and he is without mercy.

Editing this chapter was an exercise in hilarity. And by hilarity I mean heart-rending sadness. Delicious redrawing, nomnom.

Hope you enjoy.

Baccano! 2001 - The Children of Bottle: Color Pages

Meet Phil.

Somehow I had the feeling I'd end up doing this when I scribbled out that ramble about this book. It wasn't enough for me to talk about reading it, noooo. I just had to want to share it, too. Sometimes I think I set myself up for this kinda thing.

This'll probably be what I do when I don't feel like doing the image cleaning/editing/typesetting that's required for Bambino! I'll still try to get a chapter out for that at least every few days, though, so don't worry too much. I know these bits have already been translated on bakatsuki but I hear those are J to C to E translations and we all know what that means.

I am not doing the dramatis personae, because it contains a shitload of spoilers and honestly I don't even know why it's at the front of the book.

Anyway. Enjoy.

Bambino! Volume 2, Chapter 12

Do you remember how many breads you have eaten in your life?

Mediafire Download

Got lots of stuff to do; this'll probably be the only chapter for today.

Chapter 10 and 11 have had some Italian slightly edited per comments and tips from various Italians (thanks, guys). It probably won't impact your reading experience at all unless you're actually Italian.

Enjoy.

edit: Nyaaaaah, there.

Fun Fact: Kanbaru Suruga spread a rumor amongst the girls of Naoetsu High that Araragi Koyomi can make breasts grow by fondling them.

That boyish charm...  √(‘∀` √)

More Kanbaru and Arararararagi, continuing where we left off from the second part of Nadeko Snake here.

I ended up doing a bit more than I expected. Oh well.

Bambino! Volume 2, Chapter 11

That's the spirit, Katori!

That's it for tonight, I think. Got some things to take care of. And redrawing is killing me.

Hope you enjoy.

Bambino! Volume 2, Chapter 10

No, Baccanale is not on fire.

Here we go again. Thursday, the first night of the weekend.

Chapters're probably gonna come a bit slower; the volume 2 raws are a bit trickier to edit than the v1 ones were. Anyway, enjoy.

Bambino! Volume 1, Chapter 9

Katori really wants his shallots.
Mediafire Download

Mmm. That's it for volume 1. Batch download's at the bottom of the post. That up there's the chapter.

The volume has slightly different fonts for a couple of things and maybe one or two pages of wording adjustments, but if you've been following chapter by chapter you shouldn't have to download the batch.

Anyway, mebbe I'll take a day or two off, and then get ready for volume 2. See you guys then, and I hope you enjoy.

Bambino! Volume 1, Chapter 8

Even Ban knows that a red zaku is three times faster than normal!

Another chapter. Almost done with volume 1. I'll post a batch download along with chapter 9.

As an aside, I think Yonamine is one of the few examples of a playboy in commercial manga who is both A) actually a playboy, not in just name only/superficially, and B) still not a bad guy or the main character. Rare enough in the real world, almost extinct in manga... except for hentai, of course, but that's a different matter entirely.

Enjoy!

Bambino! Volume 1, Chapter 7

I never knew being a chef was so hotblooded. (;; )

Nomnom, delicious chapter.

Business as usual at Trattoria Baccanale.

Translating this manga always makes me hungry.

Corrections on the Italian and comments are always welcome.

As an aside, I'm reasonably certain that quite a lot of chefs do smoke, so Katori's disdain for Ban's smoking in this chapter was perhaps a bit unrealistic, but it did illustrate a point.

I think I'll stop here for today, and probably push to the end of volume 1 tomorrow. Stay tuned to see if Ban can actually catch a break. Hope you're enjoying the series, we've still got something like 14 and a half volumes to go.

And then it's the sequel, Bambino Secondo.

Bambino! Volume 1, Chapter 3

You won't like Chef Tekkan when he's angry. ( ̄д ̄)

The page 96-97 spread wasted hours of my life. You'll know it when you see it. That's redrawn.

Hope you enjoy.

Whew. After the 50 page pilot chapter, even 33 more just goes by like nothing. Eheheh. Well. Uhh. There's not much I can really say about this chapter without explaining it, so just read! I'll keep the chapters coming.

Also, whoever invented stroked text for manga can go to hell. Straight to hell.

"Kanbaru Suruga, whose specialties are B dashes and double jumping. Main weapon is an accelerating switch. Job is Araragi-senpai's sex slave!"

As a great fan of Kanbaru Suruga from NisiOisiN's Bakemonogatari, I thought I would translate this snippet from the second part of the Nadeko Snake chapter, which sadly did not make it to the anime. It illustrates why Kanbaru is pretty much the world's greatest girl.

God damn this man's writing style is strange.

Bambino! Volume 1, Chapter 1

Mediafire Download

This is probably one of my favorite manga. It's about cooking. Not THIS TASTE IS DESTROYING THE EVIL INSIDE ME or THE LEGENDARY GHOST FISH, SAID TO SEND THOSE WHO EAT IT TO HEAVEN ala Chuuka Ichiban (Cooking Master Boy) or Shota no Sushi. Just the life of a line chef at a busy downtown restaurant.

The main character is Ban Shogo, a college student from Fukuoka who likes to cook. Thanks to the owner of the restaurant where he works part-time, he finds himself working at the line of Roppongi's best Italian restaurant, Trattoria Baccanale, and discovers that the real deal isn't quite as easy as he'd thought. The manga follows Ban as he struggles to keep up with the hectic workload and his co-workers, along with issues outside the kitchen like his relationship with his girlfriend Eri, who he left behind in Fukuoka.

There's a lot of Italian in this manga. The original Japanese used katakana with the meanings written above them in furi, and I've tried to reenact that in English. It might be a bit clumsy because it's my first time trying to use two languages in tandem, but we'll see how it goes. I don't think it's that confusing.

Ban and the rest of the characters from Fukuoka speak in a peculiar accent (Katori-shan is not a typo) but I eased up on it in the process of translation in order to help with readability. It's not quite Kansai-ben, but... if anything, it's close to that, I guess. If you will, imagine Ban's accent as a bit of a country drawl.

Thanks to Hox for finding me the raws, though I can't say I don't wish they were a bit bigger.
