  4. gosh, that was fast.. thank you, thank you, thank you!

  5. yeah... really... harsh chapters...
Awesome from you guys to give us both at the same time! I'll keep following your releases! Thanks a lot!

  6. Hi, just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you slinging releases out so fast for this great series. Thanks a bunch.

Looking forward to the ending and Secondo (if you're going to pick it up).

  7. Huh, that was kinda WHY.jpg.
I guess I'm interested in how the mangaka will run with this, though I seem to remember you writing on 4chan that you are not going to do the sequel as it is still ongoing.
Which would be a shame, but still, thanks for doing this awesome manga.

(also, the chapters had a bad case 'omnious foreshadowing' with the happy lovers domestic scene and the father getting ready to accept him and whatnot)

  8. Sure it was obvious but that isn't a typical last volume feel. Ban is definitely planning to get with Asuka but (hopefully) not in such a sleazy way. Hayama literately passed the baton on before passing and typically, this is cliché but as a ending kinda exciting (for Ban at least).

Thank you for doing this series. Haven't enjoyed a series like this in quite a while :)

I'm sure you don't have people threatening you about not doing Secondo but couldn't you just stick a few volumes behind instead (hell six volumes behind would be fine)?? The fan base for this series must be quite small and therefore not be so rabid as to demand blood at every which way.

I'm sure no one else will pick up the series after the final chapter so for us readers, we can only look to yourself for now.

Or even better... introduce a new series that's a bit different :) Either way, I'll be watching out.

    1. I'm sorry, I'm not going to consider Secondo unless something changes, like some sorta godlike editor dropping out of the sky to be my personal manservant. Doing Bambino was very tiring, and I am really not willing to commit myself to something like it again, especially with no clear end in sight.

I do have something else lined up for after this is done, however.

  9. Well, shit. I did not expect that to be honest.

I hope someone (wink wink) picks up Secondo. But you *did* already say that you weren't going to, huh?

  10. Yikes, I saw where the story was going, but I hoped I was wrong.
Oh well, it keeps readers on their toes I suppose.

  11. Wow.

The BanxAsuka flag was risen in a very cheap way, imo. Nonetheless, great work as always, Spore.

    1. Eh, if you want to see it that way, I guess.

  12. Such a shame, this kinda ruined the entire series for me. Cheap indeed...

    1. I can't make you like it, but honestly, it was meant to say that sometimes, shit happens. When people die in the real world to freak accidents, there's no foreshadowing of it (which is more than Hayama got) and often it doesn't make sense at all.

If you want to say that doesn't work because the creator ultimately dictates everything that takes place in a work of fiction, yeah, I suppose. I'm just trying to explain what I think Sekiya was going for. Honestly, I don't think it was cheap, just sudden.

    2. Of course people die all of a sudden without a deeper reason in the real world, but very rarely in manga (unless it's a manga about killing and dying without reason...). And you're not seriously trying to tell me that the real purpose of this death was showing how cruel fate can be and not to make Asuka available again (and the foreshadowing only makde it worse, IMO)?!

Well whatever, i don't want to come across as ungrateful, i really appreciated your work and i enjoyed most of this series, but this was just very disappointing to me, sorry. Let's move on to better things...like Genshiken...

    3. I wouldn't call it cheap either, but I do feel he foreshadowed it in a way. Not necessarily Hayama's death, but a potential thing going on with Asuka and Ban in the future. At least, that's what I think. It might just seem kind of low if they have some sort of rebound relationship in Secondo. I see lots of drama ahead.

    4. No, I'm saying that while it was a plot device, I don't think it was handled quite as cheaply as you think (though, naturally, I am extremely biased simply by virtue of what I'm doing). If you're disappointed in the manga I can't tell you you're wrong or anything; that'd be silly. I was just trying to explain (badly) what might've been going on in Sekiya's mind when he did it. I mean, he obviously wasn't being rushed when he made the decision like some mangaka are, seeing as how he dove directly into Secondo right from Bambino and has been doing just fine since.

And yes, Genshiken. Ogiue's face in the last page of this chapter is hilarious.

    5. I don't know about the other anonymous, but I'm fine with what happened. Hayama hasn't been important to the story for a long time. Even then, he was just a springboard for Ban's advancement. It was fine. Shit just happens sometimes. It might have been "meh" if Hayama was far more important to the overall story.

    6. I was thinking what bothers me about this development and I finally got it - grieving after a person is a complex and long process and there is no way the mangaka can do it justice. Which is fine really, I'm not even interested in that much psychology in a cooking manga.
So, my guess is, it will probably turn out a little cheesy. Which again, is okay as this manga is about cheese. Just that the New York arc was laying it pretty thick (what with the gentlemen mafia cooks, crippled singers and valiant mexicans who escaped crimelords and lost their families in 9/11) so I kind of hoped I would see just some simple storylines. You know, Ban cooking, struggling with Mr. Assholecook, keeping the new restaurant above water. Not sure I was in for a big 'shit happens' moral.

Manga is still awesome though, I'm just ranting on the internet because obviously I have nothing more productive to do.

  13. Now the mangaka's Asuka/Ban angle he's been working makes total sense...

    1. No, sorry. Not the foggiest idea. Hopefully anyone who does is better at Italian than I am.

  15. You guys are all blind. The purpose of Hayama's death was to illustrate the need for improved umbrella safety! Fools waving their umbrellas about are a danger for tall people everywhere!

  16. It was out of the blue, but shit happens, and thank you again Spore for doing this series.

  17. Since Bambino! Secondo is just a titular sequel, it's kind of like stopping midway when you drop this. Which is your good right, of course. Just sayin'. I like this manga a lot though, but I'm also not sure if I'll be able to enjoy it forever. These neverending series generally aren't my cup of tea.

    1. I don't have the energy to continue--I'm this close to burning out as it is. If you want to say that means I'm dropping it then okay, I'm dropping it.

If it wasn't a weekly I might consider it but yeah. I can't keep up that kind of commitment while juggling other stuff on top of it.

    2. brbpp, dude AnonSpore isn't a vending machine to just keep throwing out new chapters, hell even vending machines need to be refilled.

It's in the FAQ, I mean, unless someone has a godly editor, why do people keep repeating the same question, or hell, in that ignorant "BUT MY NEEEEEEEEDS" tone? Oh right, it's the internet, but it's counterproductive.

Best you can do (apart from finding a godly editors) is thanking him/her/it?!? for the hard work and comment if you enjoyed reading it. That might motivate someone a lot more than DUDE WHAT ABOUT MY MANGO?!

    3. No, he's a scanlator too so he knows what he's talking about, and he has a valid point. I just don't have what it takes to see this through.

If anything, I'm sort of happy that the manga has garnered so many people who care about it enough that they want to see it continued. Unfortunately, living up to their expectations is beyond me, that's all.

Thank you all for reading and caring enough to comment.

    4. I disagree with it though, while in a way Bambino! does have a bit of a cliffhanger ending, it does wrap up the Baccanale story arc and starts at the new location.

I guess if I think this in anime terms you did finish the "1st season", so I see nothing wrong by not picking up the "2nd season".

  19. Shpore, I'd be willing to edit for you if the raws are okay. I've worked on a few projects with Hox and various other groups, but you've always turned me down when I offered to help in the past.

I think I am the one who redrew that color Vinland Saga spread for you a year or two ago..was that you scanlating it at the time?

  20. (for some reason Chrome won't let me direct reply to the earlier comments) Sorry if I sounded like an ass, I didn't mean to "bitch" about your decision. I honestly never would've had the courage myself to see 15 volumes of any manga through, in terms of scanlating. Too bad the publishing market is in such a sad state, otherwise I would liked to have seen this get licensed.
Anyways, I always enjoyed reading your translations of Bambino. Good luck on your next endeavor(s)!

  22. Awesome release...sad chapter though. I know where this is heading, but it's awkward to be the backup man, even after "that" happened, he's a replacement + he got competition from another cook if i remember correctly.
