So, every time I say "hopefully this next chapter will come faster," it doesn't. Exercising some genre savvy, I will make no promises. On the plus side, though, the chapters are much shorter this time around, so there's that.

I'm aware that this particular volume has already been translated by someone else, but for reasons I'm hoping will become readily apparent upon reading, I'm just going to continue going in order right from the end of The Slash.

Baccano! 1933 - THE SLASH - Bloody to Fair: Epilogue & Remnants

The Epilogue is the end of The Slash storyline, but there is actually more to the book itself. Like the name implies, the "Remnants, or New Prologues" more or less lead into the 1934 Alice in Jails/Peter Pan in Chains arc (volumes 8~10). This book also includes the second author's midword I've ever read. Enjoy.

I think it goes without saying that it's pretty hilarious how all the mobsters have come pretty much straight from the romantic 1930s view of the mafia except for Paul Giordano, who gives no fucks about Family and Honor and is perfectly willing to Kill Everyone if it gets him what he wants.

P.S. Tornatore's face on page 196 is priceless too. You can tell he's thinking, "Dude. We're fucking mafia. What the fuck are you going on about?"

I'll refrain from giving my own thoughts on the book until I'm done with The Slash in its entirety, but I just wanted to say that I wouldn't normally use the word "slash" so much, but seeing as how it's the theme running through this arc, I included the word more than usual to, uhh, bolster that. Would that the arc had been named "The Cut" instead.

Double Jeopardy!

I made a mistake in the reading of Kozue and Hiramatsu's dishes which proves to me I should eat more Italian. The dishes both ended with "marine style" which I took erroneously to mean "marinated" when in fact there seems to be a style of Italian cuisine called "a la marine." This has been fixed in the batch download for the volume as well as in chapter 74. Online manga sites are, obviously, outside of my jurisdiction. In atonement I shall go out and have Italian for dinner.

That's the end of this volume. I got good news and bad news.

Good news is, I'm (tentatively, maybe sorta kinda perhaps and every other weasel term I can think of) back with some free time to spare for fan translation.

Bad news (for you!) is that I'm probably not gonna be spending that time on Bambino. More specifically, I wanna focus on finishing up the volume of Baccano I've been working on for forever and a half months, and after that, maybe (if I'm lucky and get someone awesomely skilled [hint hint] to merge that blasted spread for me) the Black Lagoon novel by Urobuchi Gen which I feel was pretty good and worth giving a shot.

So, yeah. Them's the breaks. Enjoy the chapter.

I'm not dropping Bambino, just to make things clear. Though if anyone wants to take it on they're free to do so without needing my permission (seriously, asking scanlators for permission is just silly).
